| CESA 5 Youth Apprenticeship Consortium |
CESA 5 coordinates the Youth Apprenticeship programs for the districts in the CESA 5 YA Consortium. Youth Apprenticeship (YA) is a rigorous one or two-year elective program that combines academic and technical classroom instruction with mentored, on-the-job learning for junior or senior high school students. Applications for this program are due to CESA 5 mid March. Students may choose to enroll in Level One (450 hours of paid work experience required) or Level Two (900 hours of paid work experience required) Certificate Programs. All Wisconsin Child Labor Laws are followed for these experiences and students must have an updated Training Agreement submitted to CESA 5 prior to beginning their work experience. Upon successful completion of these programs, students receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The Wisconsin Investment Act (WIA) provides special funding to assist students who meet certain qualifications.
Contact your local school-to-work coordinator at your high school or Shelley Drescher at CESA 5 if you would like more information regarding these program opportunities.
