| Youth Leadership Facilitator's Guide |
|
The Youth Leadership: Be Significant program is a cooperative program between schools and local community organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce. The program is designed for high school students with the purpose of developing leadership skills in today’s youth. CESA 5, working in cooperation with Portage Area Chamber of Commerce, has developed a facilitator’s guide for this program. The guide is a tool for organizations and schools wishing to initiate a Youth Leadership program in their community. The guide contains correspondence, event planning notes, agendas, handouts, and other necessary details to aid facilitators in planning each Youth Leadership event. This version of the Youth Leadership guide contains the following Youth Leadership events:
TEAM WORK: “PUMP ‘N PRAISE” --develops leadership through teamwork skills and understanding of group dynamics.
VOLUNTEERISM and the NON-PROFITS “From ME to WE” --develops leadership through servant leadership activities.
PUBLIC SECTOR: “YOUR DAY in COURT” --develops leadership through a focus on serving as an elected official and knowledge of community government.
ENTREPRENEURISM and SMALL BUSINESS OWNERSHIP: “STARVING ARTIST OR SATISFIED OWNER?”--develops leadership by promoting entrepreneurship.
MANUFACTURING, SKILL TRADES, and the HARD SCIENCES: “RESPECT or GRAPPLE?”--develops leadership by providing a closer look at leading in a manufacturing environment.
