Special Education
District multi-disciplinary teams, upon referral, assess children and make specific recommendations for programming based on identified needs of the child.

A full range of services for students with disabilities from early childhood through age 21 has been developed through local school district cooperation and CESA 5 Special Education Administration.

The services include cooperative classes at all levels for children with cognitive disabilities, children with learning disabilities, children with emotional problems, hearing impaired children, as well as children needing physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, early childhood programming, and blind children.  Audiology and Assistive Technology consultants also provide services to schools.

A total of approximately 2,374 children are served directly by the CESA 5 operated Special Education programs, or indirectly in district operated classes.  These children are served by the various support staff employed by CESA 5 for this purpose.
