Digital Tools Integration Teams Grant


Title II-D Educational Technology Competitive Grant (2008-2009)

A CESA 5 consortium of 23 school districts and 24 private schools was funded through an Enhancing Education through Technology (EETT) competitive grant to:
  1. increase student achievement in ITLS skills and content curriculum through participation in consortium activities related to the use and integration of new digital tools
  2. provide opportunities for teachers and library media specialists to develop, implement, and assess technology-rich learning activities
  3. foster technology integration leadership teams, indistrict training and support, and professional collaboration within and between consortium districts.


Districts selected a Digital Tools Integration Team of teachers/library media specialists including interested teachers from  private schools.  Each team member chose to participate in either the Web 2.0 tools strand or the SMARTBoards strand.

Teacher-participants are expected to:
  1. actively participate in one of the August training sessions
  2. attend two full-day best practices sharing sessions  (grant will reimburse sub & mileage)
  3. implement and assess at least one classroom unit per semester using the digital tool(s); turn in unit plans, student assessment data, teacher reflection for each unit
  4. meet monthly indistrict with district coach and other team members (private school teachers to meet with public school team)
  5. actively participate in an online discussion group with other teachers implementing the same tool
  6. complete surveys and data collection as required for grant evaluation
Digital Tools III coaches are expected to provide indistrict support and coordination for teacher participants,
to provide professional development for other educators in the district and area private schools, and to create a dissemination project to share with other districts in the consortium.

Additional expectations for coaches:
  1. attend the Digital Tools III coaches training session in Westfield - August 18 & 19
  2. attend two additional training sessions during the school year  (grant will reimburse sub & travel)
  3. facilitate monthly indistrict meetings with team members plus provide addtional support throughout the school year
  4. actively participate in an online Moodle discussion group with other coaches
  5. develop and implement trainings for other educators in the district
  6. work with team members to create a dissemination project to share their experiences with other consortium districts
Digital Tools III library media specialists are expected to:
  1. attend the Digital Tools III library media specialist training session - Sept. 24 in Poynette.
  2. attend monthly indistrict meetings with team members plus provide addtional support to the team throughout the school year.
