License Renewal Support Center

To support the implementation of PI 34, CESA 5 offers a License Renewal and Support Center.  PI 34 requires that all new teachers, administrators, and pupil services personnel be provided an orientation and support seminars reflecting the Wisconsin Standards.  New personnel must also be provided a qualified mentor and create a Professional Development Plan.

School may choose to become a PI 34 consortium member school and receive full services to support PI-34 initiatives.*  PI 34 services may also be purchased on an as needed basis by

Initial Educator Support:  PI-34 requires that districts provide appropriate support to new educators.  The CESA 5 PI-34 consortium offers four support seminars throughout the first year with focus on topics such as classroom management, differentiated instruction, dealing with special student populations (GT, ELL, poverty, special needs), conducting an effective parent-teacher conference, writing a PDP and more—all based in the Wisconsin Standards.  These sessions also provide an opportunity for new teachers to share concerns and discuss issues as they arise in their classroom.

Mentor Training:  Mentors must be trained to provide high quality support to new teachers.  The “Foundations in Mentoring” training works with veteran teachers develop the skills to be effective mentors.  This training may also be arranged to be conducted on-site at your school.

PDP Development Support & Workshops:  Both initial educators and veteran teachers will benefit from learning how to “Write a High Quality PDP”.  In this “working” training participants discuss goal setting, reflect on teaching practice, and develop an understanding of the key elements needed in the PDP.   Participants will be able to complete each component throughout the day with the goal of leaving the workshop with a completed PDP (Parts A-E) in hand.  One-to-one professional development support is also available though CESA 5 trained PDP reviewers at a rate of $35/hour.

PDP Reviewing:  The CESA 5 License and Renewal Support Center provides PDP goal approval and PDP verification review for those teachers, administrators, and pupil services staff.  CESA 5 PI-34 consortium members are provided with FREE PDP reviewing. (The cost for non-consortium members is $175 per PDP review.)

PI-34 Consulting/Presentations:  CESA 5 provides assistance to schools in providing a clarification of PI-34 legislation, complete an audit of PI-34 compliance, or help design a support system for new educators.  We are happy to arrange customized PI-34 trainings for your staff as well.

Newsletters and Email Updates:  Periodically CESA 5 will send email updates and reminders regarding important PI-34 news to our consortium members.  Members also receive a subscription to the Center for Assessment newsletter that contains PI-34 information.  As a consortium member you will be included in these updates.

*The PI-34 member school fee structure is based on K-12 district student enrollment.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding becoming a PI-34 consortium member.
